Jim Bowman has broad experience in all functional areas of public relations and corporate communications, with an emphasis on media relations. As Vice President of Corporate Communications for Nokia Inc., he was part of the global team that established Nokia as one of the world’s top 10 brands.
Other assignments have included Director of National Media Relations for Sprint, head of Communications for Illuminet during its merger and pre-public-offering stages, and Media Relations Manager for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Sikorsky Aircraft. He served as a U.S. Air Force public affairs officer in the Secretary of the Air Force public affairs office and at headquarters, Air Materiel Command.
Jim’s strategies and creative thinking have helped build the brands and images of some of the world’s most respected companies and get small companies known. His skillful handling of an international business crisis in Hungary for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, with ACES Group Public Relations, Vienna, Austria, was recognized by the International Public Relations Association with its Golden World award for outstanding crisis communications.
As owner and President of J. R. Bowman and Associates, LLC, Jim now concentrates on serving small-to-medium-size businesses. Jim’s ability to diagnose PR problems and suggest solutions earned him the name, “The PR Doc®” among his associates. Jim was recognized by his peers with election to the Arthur W. Page Society, a selected-membership organization of senior public relations executives, and appointment to the client advisory board of the Council of Public Relations Firms.
